Second Runner Up to Poet Laureate ~ Sheila Tingley Moore

A member of SAPA, PST, and NFSPS, Sheila was president of SAPA for the 2006-

2008 term. She was SAPA’s Poet Laureate in 2005 and 2006, the Poet Laureate Emeritus in 2007, and has won the Poetic Excellence Award eight times. She was also the Texas Senior Poet Laureate for the Kitchener Foundation. An award-winning poet, she has published seven of her own poetry collections and has been published in numerous anthologies and publications.


First Runner Up to Poet Laureate ~ Valerie Martin Bailey

Valerie has twice served as president of SAPA, has been its Poet Laureate eight

times, its Poet Laureate Emeritus once, and has won its Poetic Excellence Award this year and six other times. The 2nd Vice Chancellor of NFSPS, she edits its anthology the Encore. She is a councilor for the Poetry Society of Texas and has won both of PST’s top awards, the President’s Award and the Hilton Ross Greer Outstanding Service Award. She is a founding board member of the Laurel Crown Foundation

Third Runner Up to Poet Laureate ~ Floyd (Michaud) L. Lamrouex

A member of SAPA, PST, and NFSPS, Floyd is treasurer, membership chair, program

chair, and Webmaster for SAPA. He is a councilor, Webmaster, and legal counsel for PST, and he is also legal advisor and parliamentarian for NFSPS, and legal counsel for A Galaxy of Verse. His new book Oasis in the Sky has been featured in Voices de la Luna and has been reviewed in the San Antonio Express News. He hosts two popular venues in the city—Awaken the Sleeping Poet at Northwoods Barnes & Noble and at the Twig Book Shop.

Fourth Runner Up to Poet Laureate ~ Loretta Burns Vaughan

A member of SAPA, PST, and NFSPS, Loretta is also on the board of the Laurel

Crown Foundation as Co-Development Director. She is a native of San Antonio and has written poetry since she was a teenager. She continues to polish her skills by attending classes in writing and poetry at the Academy of Learning in Retirement. Loretta has won awards for her poetry at both the local and state level and has been published in The Dreamcatcher, Inkwell Echoes, and Voices Along the River.  She has been married to Wallace Vaughan, SAPA’s president, for 43 years.
